Magical Mystery
oder: Die Rückkehr des Karl Schmidt
Nach dem Roman von Sven Regener
Landestheater Tübingen
Theatre
“Magical Mystery” tells the story of Karl Schmidt, an installation artist who was admitted to a psychiatric clinic after the fall of the Berlin Wall due to a nervous breakdown and is now, six years later, looking for his way back into life. In post-reunification Germany, he goes on a tour through Germany with his old friends and former drinking buddies in order to bring rave to people outside of the techno metropolises. The now dry Karl Schmidt acts as driver and person for everything and has his hands full guiding the tour through the nights. The special thing about this production: It breaks with the usual norm of civilized theater, combines acting with club flair, turns up the music and especially the bass and thus creates a new atmosphere that builds a bridge between cultures. Dancing and going to the bar are not only allowed to the audience, they are actually encouraged. After the performance, the party just continues. Based on the novel of the same name by Sven Regener.
