Orchestra Baobab’s epic journey begins in the heart of the Medina of Dakar in the late 1960s, in a nightclub built around a baobab tree, where the group developed a variety of styles reflecting the cultural mix and strong musical personalities of its founding members.
Today, with the support of new members, Orchestra Baobab celebrates its 50th anniversary and is proud to present its new songs, all unreleased and all carrying its faithful, universal, humanist and pacifist message. The group entered the 21st century with renewed international fame and continues to tour, bringing audiences young and old to dance at festivals and concert halls around the world. Lively and vibrant, let’s celebrate together the fiftieth anniversary of the Orchestra Baobab.
